Finance officer
Job description
Are you a recent graduate or early-career finance professional looking to build a broad career in finance?
Do you enjoy working with numbers, creating structure and turning financial data into valuable insights? Then this could be the perfect opportunity for you.
At WFashion in Maastricht, we’re looking for a Finance Officer to join our team for 32 hours per week. In this role, you’ll be involved in much more than financial administration. You’ll help monitor financial performance, support reporting and analysis, and contribute to improving financial processes across the business.
You’ll join a dynamic and supportive finance team where you’ll have the opportunity to develop your skills, take on responsibility and grow within an international fashion organisation.
What will you do?
As a Finance Officer, you’ll help ensure our financial administration is accurate, well organised and up to date. While your main focus will be accounts receivable, you’ll also support a wide range of finance activities, giving you the opportunity to develop a broad understanding of financial operations.
For us, accounts receivable is about more than collecting outstanding invoices. It’s about creating insight, identifying trends and helping the business stay in control. You’ll analyse payment behaviour, monitor credit limits and prepare reports that support informed decision-making.
Working closely with your colleagues, you’ll contribute to a finance department that values accuracy, continuous improvement and collaboration.
In this role, you will:
Manage invoicing and follow up on outstanding invoices.
Maintain contact with customers regarding payments and payment arrangements.
Analyse outstanding balances and payment behaviour.
Prepare accounts receivable reports and financial analyses.
Identify risks, trends and discrepancies within the accounts receivable process.
Monitor credit limits and customer agreements.
Process bank transactions and maintain financial records.
Support the accounts payable administration.
Assist with month-end closing activities and financial reporting.
Contribute ideas to improve financial processes and ways of working.
Create and maintain customer records in our financial systems.
The best part? You’ll develop a broad set of finance skills while helping to improve the financial processes that support our business.
What do we offer?
At WFashion, you’ll become part of an approachable and collaborative finance team where you’ll have the opportunity to learn, take ownership and continue developing your career. Whether you’re just starting out or already have some experience, we’ll help you grow both personally and professionally.
In return, we offer:
A salary between €2,900 and €3,100 gross per month (based on a 38-hour workweek), depending on your knowledge and experience.
A 32-hour contract.
Flexible working hours.
8% holiday allowance, 25 vacation days and 3 additional HVEG days.
A pension scheme through MITT.
Plenty of opportunities for personal development through the HVEG Academy.
Access to OpenUp for mental wellbeing, coaching and personal development.
A company contribution towards your gym membership through our corporate fitness programme.
Discounts on your health insurance through our collective healthcare plan.
Access to Bril van de Zaak, offering a contribution towards prescription glasses.
Staff discounts on HVEG brands.
The opportunity to build a broad career within the finance department of an international fashion organisation.
What do you bring?
An MBO or Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Economics or a related field.
You’re at the start of your career or already have some relevant experience, including internships.
You are fluent in Dutch and English. German is a plus.
Experience with financial systems and Microsoft Excel is an advantage.
You work accurately, enjoy analysing data and like improving processes.
You’re eager to learn, take initiative and develop yourself within finance.
What you bring to the role
You work accurately, think ahead and keep an overview when several things happen at once. You communicate easily with others and feel comfortable taking responsibility for your own work.
A working and thinking level equivalent to at least Dutch mbo level 3.
A good command of Excel.
A good command of Dutch and English, both spoken and written.
An interest in fashion, retail and/or logistics.
Experience with ERP systems, sea freight or air freight is welcome.
Don’t have relevant work experience yet, but recognise yourself in this profile? We’d still love to hear from you. With your motivation and willingness to learn, we can help you develop within WFashion.
Interested?
Would you like to contribute to reliable deliveries and the continued growth of WFashion? And does the role of Ordermanagement & Planning Employee sound like the perfect fit for you?
